In recent years the physically-based animation of rigid bodies, deformable solids and fluids has become increasingly important to simulate special effects in computer games and to provide a more realistic virtual world. In the area of computer games interactive simulations are of particular interest, where a user can interact in real-time with the simulated bodies. As a consequence the simulation methods must meet high demands in terms of performance and stability. However, all that is required in terms of accuracy is visual plausibility. In recent years geometrically motivated simulation methods became popular. These approaches allow visual plausible simulations including complex physical phenomena in interactive applications.

Organizational Details

In this pro-seminar each participant will work on a topic in the research area of game physics, summarize it in a short paper using LaTeX and present the topic in a block seminar. All topics will be introduced in the introductory meeting. The participation in all meetings is mandatory.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of numerics, algorithms and data-structures
  • Basic knowledge of Computer Graphics

Material

Will be announced in the introductory meeting.
